Weekends

We had wanted to be a bit "greener" this year and not buy a car, but living in our small-town bedroom community and lugging groceries in backpacks and the stroller has made us think differently. I promise I won't start driving to work--even in winter--but it certainly is nice to have a bit more freedom on the weekends. Alex is more than thrilled with "his" new car.

Last week we went to a lovely park/zoo/picnic area overlooking the lake. It was a semi-clear day so we actually got to see snow-capped Mont Blanc and lots of mountains all around.

This weekend we discovered a small zoo in Geneva. The main attraction turned out to be the adjacent park with series of wading pools. When he saw them, Alex took off his shirt and went running. It wasn't very warm and no-one else was there, but he sure did have a blast!

Today we went to a nearby lake and despite the rain, we took a nice walk and Alex had almost the whole path to himself to ride his new tricycle. We were a bit concerned about whether he would test whether the tricycle would actually float in the lake.

But he made it back up with a bit of coaxing from Grandpa George.
