Once we were sufficiently stuffed with chocolate, we headed to Bern to meet Petra and her family. I've known Petra for 25 years and had the good fortune of meeting her family last year. Ken and Alice met her in Zurich 24 years ago. That definitely makes us old friends. But it was Alex's first time to meet Petra and her family so that makes them new friends.
We met at the park by the Aare River where we watched people floating very quickly down the cold, fast-flowing river. Alex played in the ice-cold water with Ladina and Hanna and even got to take a quick dip in the river (which he loved, of course).
