OK, so I lied. But it wasn't on purpose. We went to Gruyeres to visit a castle and I quickly realized that the only way to capture Alex's attention would be to tell him that we were looking for something in the castle and a dragon was the first thing to pop into my mind. So, we went from room to room looking for that darn dragon--up chiminies, behind tapestry curtains, under large wooden tables, at the top of spiral staircases.
We never quite caught up with him, so my little white lie soon led to another--the dragon must go to the mountains during the day to rest so he can come back at night to protect the castle. He certainly does that from this tall rooftop so he can see over the whole valley.
And if you look really hard, you just might be able to see his tail poking out from behind the trees in the mountains (notice "shirt off" again...).
When the dragon story wore off (or so we thought), we visited Fribourg. Little did we know that Alex would suddenly see a "castle" in every old building or church (and there are plenty in Fribourg!) so that of course meant more---dragons!!!
Found a great riverside park where Alex learned to swing off a ramp (after a bit of practice on Grandpa's back).

Even tried to catch some fish for the dragon in the cold, rushing river.
